This is a very quick post to thank all of you who have purchased masks from me this past month. Today, I donated $240 from the August sales of masks to the Foodbank.
Foodbanks across Australia are facing increased demand due to Covid-19, and the associated rise in unemployment. More troubling still is the number of people who are ineligible for government assistance; for example, those on temporary work or student visas. These workers and students are often far from family support, and may be unable to ask for assistance from their families. Because Covid-19 is causing so much food insecurity, I thought that it was appropriate to donate the money from my mask sales to the Foodbank.
When I decided to sell masks, it was imperative to have a charitable element. As an accountant, I really admire socially conscious brands that donate money and energy to important causes. So, this commitment to donate $10 from each mask sale is my effort to emulate that in a very small way.
